SDIC Drainage Master Plan

Project Description

In partnership with the City of Troutdale, the Sandy Drainage Improvement Company (SDIC) developed a Drainage Master Plan to guide future capital projects and drainage priorities over the next 15-20 years. The plan evaluated the condition of pipes, drainage ditches, and pump stations that collect and direct rain water in order to identify areas that need improvement and prioritize future investments to better prevent and manage flooding for communities in this area. Management of the levee system was not included in this planning effort.

Project Timeline

  • PROJECT KICK-OFF (JUNE, 2019)
  • COMMUNITY engagement INPUT SURVEY (SEPTEMBER, 2019 & SEPTEMBER 2020)
    •  As part of the early stages of the development of the Drainage Master Plan, SDIC and the City of Troutdale sought input from residents, property owners, and businesses about drainage issues in or around their property. The project also concluded with another opportunity for the public to provide input on the final product.
  • SDIC BOARD AND CITY OF TROUTDALE PORTLAND (SEPTEMBER, 2020)
    •  Joint presentation on the final DMP draft delivered to the SDIC Board and City of Troutdale Council.
  • FINAL DRAINAGE MASTER PLAN (JANUARY, 2021)
    •  Adoption of Final Drainage Master Plan at SDIC public board meeting.

Benefit

The plan includes recommendations for the internal drainage system, related to the operation and maintenance of pipes and ditches, upgrades to the SDIC pump station, construction of new and replacement infrastructure, and opportunities to improve stormwater quality.
